Spikenard - 500 Seeds Overview

Aralia racemosa, commonly known as American Spikenard or Nard, is a perennial herb that can be found growing in the wild in portions of the United States. It is a large plant, reaching 48 inches in height, and it has attractive foliage, small white flowers in summer and non-edible reddish colored berry clusters in the fall. It has been used as a flavoring and also medicinally to treat inflammatory conditions and more. Start the seed outdoors in the late fall. The seed needs the cold of winter to break the dormancy. In the spring as temperatures warm, the seed will begin to germinate. Press the seed into soil and cover it lightly with soil. Spikenard prefers a position in full sun to partial shade, and it will grow in a variety of soils. Space the plant 24 - 36 inches apart.
